Is Instagram Better for Branding? It’s already been a year since Facebook acquired Instagram, and they have reached 100 million monthly active users and attracted 67 percent of the top brands in the world. These companies not only have a presence on Instagram, but they are using it well. The Instagram Interbrand 100 companies outshines the Interbrand companies on Pinterest.

Starbucks, Nike and MTV all currently hold over 1 million followers and aren’t wasting a single second of engagement time with them. MTV’S social campaign around their Movie Awards had an extreme increase with Instagram photos surround the event.

According to Simply Measured’s study, based on the Interbrand 100, Instagram is growing faster than Pinterest and is more valuable to brands. As of May 1st, the audience of the top 76 companies on Pinterest had less than 500,000 followers, where the top 67 companies on Instagram had more than 7 million. The major difference in the amount of followers between the two social sites is because  49 percent of companies on Pinterest do not post on a regular basis.

Another thing to note in this study is that since Instagram’s acquisition, the engagement on images on Twitter have dropped. Surprisingly enough, Instagram images on Facebook is up 23 percent. Both of these have something to do with the acquisition as well as Instagram dropping support for embedded images on Twitter.
