Why Social Media So many people ask themselves this exact question when looking at their marketing tactics. Well, the question really should be: why not social media? I could sit here and list off all of the benefits of being on social platforms, but it all comes down to just one crucial reason. Your company should and needs to be on social media to build a brand community.

Now, you’re probably thinking that it doesn’t apply to you has already established a brand community–guess again. If Sharpie built a brand community around what type of marker people use, than your company can benefit from this as well.

Having a strong brand community is what separates you from all of the other companies that do the exact same thing as you. You already have a reputation established; have your followers help you share it. Social media is a great place to cultivate current relationships with customers while leveraging them to gain new ones.

When your followers interact with your company page through likes, comments or shares, it pops up on the news feed that all of their friends can see. Through one post you may have had 1,000 people see it because of that one share, where normally on your page only 100 people would see it. Are you starting to see the value of interacting on social sites?

Word of mouth spreads like wild fire, and you definitely want to be the one holding the match. If not, nothing could be spreading about your company, or worse; negative comments. Establish and build your brand community to help you spread positive buzz about your company.
